Randy’s Sand Green Open

July 22, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

A big thanks to Randy and his family for organizing this great experience.

Thanks to a strong breeze during the first 14 holes, the heat wave was bearable at Woodbine Country Club in Greenfield, Illinois.  If you’ve never played a sands green course before, you’ve got to try this low-key, yet challenging, way to play the game.  Congratulations goes to team Shane for winning the event with a putt on the final hole.  Team Shane:  Shane, Jason, Brian, and Jon.  Team Pat:  Pat, Fred, Randy, and Connor

Anyone have pictures of this?  Just send them to Pat.  He would be happy to publish.

Golf and Then Guns.  Of course!

Attendance was lower due to heat wave, so we did not take party bus from St. Louis – we just drove in Jonathan’s  minivan.

From original post:

Golf Outing – 18 holes.  We don’t know the format yet – it depends on how many golfers sign up.

Price to be determined later, but guaranteed not to cost too much.

The course is a nine hole course with the longest hole about 320 yards.

The greens are all sand – no grass, so when you putt you’ll rake the area to the hole and then putt the lane.

Randy is Jonathan’s friend who lives in Illinois in a small farm town.

This is strictly for fun, not serious golf.  See the sidebar on this page for sign-up.

We plan on taking the party bus, leaving commuter lot (Hwy 30 & 270) at 8:00am.

We plan on playing golf around 10:00 and will head back to St. Louis around 5:00, but no strict schedule.

The course is an hour and a half away, so if you want to drive yourself, you can.

  1. Scott I would like to do everything but I am playing at Harbour Town that day & planned this trip over 6 months ago. We are out of town over 100 days per year. We love being retired and I don’t think that’s boring.
