We stayed 2 nights 9/26 & 27 @ Harrahs Gulf Coast in Biloxi. Got rained out 9/27 @ Harrah’s Grand Bear $100 wknd green fee. Beautiful setting 6 miles deep in DeSoto National Forest. We plan to return. There is another course owned by Beaux Rivage (MGM) Fallen Oak not far ranked as #4 casino owned course in country $200 wknd green fee. Player card discounts 10 – 20% are available.
Fri 9/28 played RTJ Magnolia Grove Crossings course. Recently renovated. Good condition firm new greens but not that difficult for most of us. Stayed in downtown Mobile. Neat area with buildings that look similar to New Orleans.
Sat 9/29 played RTJ Lakewood golf club Dogwood Course in Point Clear about 30 minutes north of Gulf Shores. Course renovated last year. 47 years old right on Mobile Bay Much tighter but flatter layout with a lot of water hazards. Scores were higher across the board here.
Sun 9/30 played Magnolia Grove Crossings. Conditions were not up to RTJ standards but still good. Drainage problems in parts of fairways & a few stressed areas on a few greens. More challenging layout off the tee. High & low scores of the weekend for most of us.
Clubhouses are all identical and magnificent as are practice areas.
Next trip is either Opeilika near Auburn or Muscle Shoals an southeast of Memphis.

Congratulations, Tom, on your hole-in-one! This is Tom’s first hole in one. Must have been a thrill to make this in the presence of your Dad and uncles.
Congratulations, Steve! Steve got his second hole-in-one, September 9, 2016! This time it was at Tamarack Country Club:
You might remember that Steve’s previous hole-in-one was at Las Vegas National Golf Club, Jan 24, 2014.
You may have noticed I’ve been tweaking the site a bit and adding new features here and there.
The most significant addition is the Login Form, located in the right sidebar.
Logging in will not only allow you to comment freely on posts without having to enter your precise name & email each time, but more exciting is that it will facilitate the use of I’M IN buttons on each event.
You’ll need to be logged in to add or remove your name from the I’M IN lists.
Just click on the Forgot Password link in the login form and provide your email address. If your email address matches the one you provided previously, then an automated email will be sent to you with instructions on how to Login.
You can use this website for information only, or you can use it to communicate your availability for each trip. Jackie will eventually redo this to include a “you IN or OUT” grid for each event, but we wanted to get this up and running before Vegas and the Derby. For now we can communicate via the comment sections on each event page.
In order to be able to comment on each page, you will need to make a first comment on any page, and once that comment is approved, you will be able comment actively on any page (as long as you use the exact same name and email consistently). You will also then be signed up with a user account.
