It was a different trip this year. Dave Shaw came to play golf on Friday, but it got rained out after 10 holes. Later that day, Brian and his buddies picked up Pat at the airport at midnight. Saturday, Mark drove to Louisville to join us for the Derby. At the Derby we could not access the stands and had to stay in the infield. We were disappointed with this new rule. However, we all had a great time and enjoyed Derby Greg’s playing washers and bean bag, and good BBQ. Jonathan and friends rented an RV. Brain, Pat, Brent, Kartik, and Mark stayed at the casino. We started a new tradition…we buy a $10 winning ticket on each horse in the race and then each participant selects one or two random tickets out of a hat. Kartik had horse 20 but it was scratched so he selected another horse (#11). Later, it was announced that the scratched horse 20 was being replaced with an alternate horse 21. Kartik was offered the alternate but he decided to stick with number 11, so Pat took horse 21. Horse 21 was an 80:1 longshot. Winner, winner, chicken dinner — Pat won over $800!
We are thinking of going to the Derby this year. The actual Derby is May 7. Like usual, we will play golf on Friday, May 6, at Chariot Run Golf Club right there in Indiana. Jonathan and his group are thinking of getting the bus, but Pat and others will also be driving up. We have not yet arranged hotels. Anyone interested, comment below or contact Pat.
I will be in North Carolina for a golf tournament. Have fun!
Regarding Derby…We will play golf on Friday about 1:00.
